Yes, sorry, I was annoyed at the overruling opinion in the thread shutting down all opposition. But you can have *a* fast desktop computer as your home work station, like OP has said he does, (and frankly, the fact that no one even mentions this in their responses makes me seriously question whether people are even reading the conversations before responding, and if so, leaves me wondering at their justification for omitting that aspect in the discussion) and *a* moderately specced laptop and still be well-equipped.

Especially if you have a professional-tier desktop PC at home, it's not that likely that you are going to be so affected by the slight disadvantages of a slightly weaker processor and hard drive or RAM for your mobile workload that the 50-100% markup will be worth it. This isn't actually how lower-mid-tier laptops behave.
